What is the name of this blue flower? Where does it grow? Is it on a shrub, tree or herbacious plant? I saw a similar one and wonder if it is the same.
Hi. I asked asked Kim Kilcourse of the Urban Ecology Institute and she directed me to the Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide (page 382-3). Our blue plant is chicory! Latin name is Cichorium intybus. It is found along roadsides, fields and waste places. Its rays are blue (occasionally white) with toothed tips. If you can’t track down Newcomb’s guide, you can read more here on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicory
