I’ve been invited by a local shop to submit a portfolio of images for review. The caveat is that the images must be of an obvious spiritual subject matter and/or have titles that evoke a spiritual ethos. What makes an image spiritual? There are undoubtedly objective as well as subjective measures. Here are two photos that I think many people, without need of a title, would consider spiritual in nature:

In the end, I’ll do my best to pull together a representative grouping. I’ll let you know what happens. Meanwhile, if you have thoughts on the subject, please let me know.




I think that almost any photo can be spiritual depending on what a persons private thoughts are. The photo on the left side (flowers) could symbolize renewel, rebirth (spring time as in the second coming of Christ he died so our life may be renewed. The one on the right could be considered uplifting connecting it to spirituality. In most religions water is used for baptism simply because many bibles state that water is life giving. Nothing can live with out water.
I might print out a little blip for each photograph you take in and briefly describ with “style” what each photo represents.
I know that this probably sounds crazy but this is my take on this. Everyone views the world from different eyes. I hope this was help full.
