Recently, I had the pleasure of traveling by train from Boston to Virginia. Here are a few images, seen through the train window.

Before I sat down to write this month’s update, I stood at my window and gazed upon the oak tree that arches over the 3-story house I live in. After much rain and now much sun, the tips of every limb are covered by tightly coiled greenery ready to unfurl explosively. I have at hand my camera and my bottle of Zyrtec. I thought I’d outgrown allergies but apparently they have not outgrown me. After extensive walkabouts the past few weeks, I have returned home with my eyes swelling shut from pollen. But no matter.
How else would I have seen this cocky fellow near Alewife?
Or this graceful goose in the Charles River?
What else to share? I’ve been practicing my black and white.
And turning my camera toward the manmade as well as nature-made.
I’ve been zooming in, in, in.
I’ve had some creative ups like two poems accepted for publication. They will appear in print later this summer. There have also been creatively humbling moments. I made an article pitch to a magazine. The editor loved it and gave me the greenlight but the end result was not what she was looking for. The bright side of this is that the editor gave me clear feedback on what she was looking for and left the door open for me to resubmit. I’ll let you know how that goes.
And, I’ve been walking, walking, walking and getting lost as only I can and stumbling upon the most amazing things.
On the horizon …
* Prepping for Somerville Open Studios!
* Continuing to research opportunities and venues for submitting work (both words and images).
* Traveling to visit friends and family, and to explore new writing and photographic opportunities.
* Learning from and being inspired by other artists and writers.
* Enjoying the quiet moments in between.
That’s me! 😉

… there is a mystery.
Abandoned greenhouses.
Paint peeling. Glass falling.
Overtaken by the trees.
If you know the story of these structures, real or imagined, please let me know! 😉

It is a cloudy gray wet chill day where I am in New England. I may get up the courage to dash outside with my camera and take pictures of raindrop-laden foliage and flora, but … not yet. Until then, I am finding inspiration online in the luminous macro photography of Daniel Sroka. If nothing else, please visit Sroka’s site to view the tulips, not to mention the fallen leaves. And there’s a little tree … or is it? Amazing!
What’s inspiring you today?
