Before I sat down to write this month’s update, I stood at my window and gazed upon the oak tree that arches over the 3-story house I live in. After much rain and now much sun, the tips of every limb are covered by tightly coiled greenery ready to unfurl explosively. I have at hand my camera and my bottle of Zyrtec. I thought I’d outgrown allergies but apparently they have not outgrown me. After extensive walkabouts the past few weeks, I have returned home with my eyes swelling shut from pollen. But no matter.
How else would I have seen this cocky fellow near Alewife?
Or this graceful goose in the Charles River?
What else to share? I’ve been practicing my black and white.
And turning my camera toward the manmade as well as nature-made.
I’ve been zooming in, in, in.
I’ve had some creative ups like two poems accepted for publication. They will appear in print later this summer. There have also been creatively humbling moments. I made an article pitch to a magazine. The editor loved it and gave me the greenlight but the end result was not what she was looking for. The bright side of this is that the editor gave me clear feedback on what she was looking for and left the door open for me to resubmit. I’ll let you know how that goes.
And, I’ve been walking, walking, walking and getting lost as only I can and stumbling upon the most amazing things.
On the horizon …
* Prepping for Somerville Open Studios!
* Continuing to research opportunities and venues for submitting work (both words and images).
* Traveling to visit friends and family, and to explore new writing and photographic opportunities.
* Learning from and being inspired by other artists and writers.
* Enjoying the quiet moments in between.
That’s me! 😉

Thanks Cynthia — I’ll gladly be wandering with you and your watchful eyes, vicariously! Have you tried submitting to Spirit of Change? (Maybe I will again, some day…….) – L
You should try hookworm for your allergies..
I don’t have them.. but I’m curious to see if they work.. Will you be my guinea pig? 🙂

p.s. beautiful images.. and a nice read..
So sorry to hear about your allergies! I’m very much looking forward to going to the Somerville Open Studios and seeing what you will be exhibiting.
PS – I love your homepage image. It’s very haunting, like a Robert Frost poem.
