I tried to explain to my brother, who needs an alarm clock in the spring when you have these little fellows singing in the trees outside your window.

OK, book out for Friend 1. Hard to be completely sure at that lovely angle you got, but I’m going Downy Woodpecker, instead of longer-beaked Hairy Woodpecker. Friend 2 is the starling. What a nice sight to start your day and now mine!
