frogs hopped about but those I could not photograph (I wasn’t fast enough)

but across the road in a field I found a bunny rabbit who mostly sat still except when he was nibbling

Today I saw three white butterflies tussling in the air.  It was an unexpected delight of a sight as I raced past an open window.  No camera did I have nor did I need.  It was better for me to just pause, and feel the breeze, as I watched such a beautiful dance.  Afterwards I sat with a piece of black paper and a white pencil and sketched them while mostly thinking of a young friend who is now 6 and about to turn 16 who recently asked, “what do you do with black paper?”  The butterflies were fine for me but not good enough to post.  But … I did recently take a walk with my camera and captured this little golden fellow resting on a green leaf.  So, after all those words, it is his image that I’ll share.  Enjoy, and may we all have a good week.

… while peering into the Charles River.

I think I was tucked at the base of a bridge along the Esplanade trying to photograph fish, and then I thought, why not photograph the patterns forming in and on the water.

I have not been back to the river much at all.  We’ll see what happens before this summer’s end.

For the past few years, through the rippled glass, I have most often photographed a nearby vacant lot where dandelions would grow rampant.

But in time all things change.

In late spring, a new neighbor moved in and he has turned the field into a garden.

It is quite lush with green mounds of this, green hills of that and …

probably green peas spiraling up a new terrace made of string.

When the wind blows just right, I can catch a glimpse of gold squash blossoms.

… somehow, the scenes always take my breath away.  With moving water, in this case a freshwater spring running into the sea, there is no one right photo.  It’s just capturing fluid moments as the sun shines down, reflecting, refracting and all those other wonderful things light does in and on the water.
