I am pleased to share that Alimentum Journal is featuring a set of my food photographs inspired by Japanese artist Yozo Hamaguchi.

Even before my extraordinary journey to Japan a few years ago, I had been intrigued by Japan and its culture, especially depictions of nature in print and on cloth, and as expressed in music, words and images. Β But visiting Japan awakened my senses to food as visual art object. Β Further research introduced the works of Yozo Hamaguchi, who inspired a whole series of photographs.
The Hamaguchi-inspired images can be viewed in the Alimentum Art Gallery HERE.
And you can view the full gallery of images on my website HERE.
Bon apetit! π

I never knew about the Japanese influence, and yet look where I went creatively with your work! Enjoying these!!!
What a marvelous set of work. Here we are looking at familiar ingredients for the first time, along with a few others that truly are for the first time. How fitting for the aesthetic. Congratulations!
So lovely!
Thanks for sharing a new artist- I wasn’t aware of his work until now π

Wow! That’s great! Congratulation! π
I absolutely love the way the pepper clings to the radish slices. Your work is so zen.
Hi Cynthia, glad you liked my last post – really like your clean, simple style of photography too. I plan to go to Japan in the next 2 years!
Beautiful Cynthia. Loved the food images at the website. I took a shot of a fruit plate on an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay that is very reminiscent of your shot on this post. Hadn’t realized it was artist-inspired. Well done!
Gorgeous photography!
