Four ducks making their way along Shannon Beach. I must say, if there is one animal that I have had much photographic-interaction with this year, it is the mallard duck. No matter where I find myself, in the mountains or in the heart of Boston, so long as I am near a body of water of any size, there will be a duck or two or four. The Make Way for Duckings reference is to this famous book.

I chanced upon this beautiful creature while taking one of those unofficial shortcuts between houses and down some back alley stairs. An unexpected final shot before I made my descent.

The sea urchin shell was whole when I picked it up off the beach but I was too cavalier when I placed it in my bag. In the end, only one section was broken, and not lost. So, if I am careful, I can recreate the whole with barely perceptible, yet beautiful lines, marking the breaks.
