The major stems, leaves and unopened buds are jade green while the petals are pale green and freckled with apricot. A lovely gift that now resides in the kitchen in the grayness of a rainy afternoon.

Many buds wait to open, and so we’ll see what happens in the coming days once the sun reappears in its gold cloak.

the beauty of time

I have been photographing this African Violet since at least 2010. This past year, the plant grew spectacularly well. Mostly because I tucked it into a corner and let it be. Now at the start of this first full week of 2014, I photograph the plant again. It is an overcast day which is all the inspiration needed to pull out flashlights and let the artificial light play upon iridescent petals and leaves.

the forgotten fern

It grew in a teacup-sized pot. I was told to keep it in a shady area of the house and I did … but then I’m afraid I tucked it too far into a shadowed corner. I forgot to water it. I miss the fern’s green fronds but it is still quite beautiful with its branching strands of gold.

no picture but i can share that …

the last of the dandelion

As spring draws to a conclusion, the last of my dandelions have fallen apart helped by a sudden gust of wind from an open window. I wonder what the summer will blow my way. Meanwhile here’s a gallery of the dandelion images. FYI, the folks at Talking Writing Magazine paired some of the images with an essay by Fran Cronin about a mother letting her daughter go as She’s Leaving Home for college. An excellent read. Check it out. Meanwhile have a good Thursday!
