Posts Tagged ‘sky’

There is poetry among these branches of the oak tree, with their few remaining leaves that are quite red in the full light of noon but in the wee hours of morn they are dark shadows fluttering like the wings of moths or butterflies, and then there’s that backdrop of a sky transforming from rosy dawn to bluest day.  Poetry, indeed.  I’m just not sure where the words are hiding.  In some nook or cranny perhaps just waiting to unfurl …

You know something spectacular is happening when you see drivers pulling to the side of the road so that they can take out their cameras and smart phones to snap a picture of the sky, or to simply stare in wonder.

Well, after a long day at the computer that left me with eyes sore and lower back aching, plus the host of other things that happened, I was starting to get a little grumpy.  Not seriously so, just enough to make me feel a bit sorry for myself as the work day ended.  I leaned back in my chair with head thrown back wondering all sorts of thoughts.  That’s when it happened.

I turned my head just a fraction of an inch and out of the corner of my eye I saw color.  As if someone had taken a paint brush dipped in orange and blue and browns and pinks and just a hint of gold and raked the dripping bristles across the sky.

Even as red gave way to indigo and soon to darkest night, I felt my day lighten. No matter the few aches and pains and issues I might have, I was reminded in a relatively few minutes, how lucky I am in this life.

Recently, people have asked me why I chase clouds and why I look up so much?

Have I shared these images of the Blue Ridge Parkway?  The older I grow the more I realize how growing up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge has influenced my behavior and perceptions of the world.
