One of the great pleasures for me in living in the Greater Boston area is ease of access to nature. And by “ease of access” that can mean taking two trains, a bus and then walking half a mile or so, but still, I know that I am lucky to be where I am and that on any given day I can make my way to at least two major rivers, the Charles, and in the case of this image applied to a pouch and on stationery, the Mystic River. You can learn more about the Mystic River watershed here and peruse other items with this image here.

Probably one of the most popular photos I’ve taken in recent years has been that of The Yellow Leaves, an autumn scene in Dublin with pale yellow leaves falling from the white barked branches of a tree on the UCD campus. The image is now available in glass … just click here …

and as a print in a variety of sizes … just click here.
I’ve been luck enough to travel to Dublin several times over the past few years. Each journey regardless of season has presented new opportunities to engage with the beauty of the urban landscape. I’m not sure when I’ll next return but it’s great fun to work with these images in new ways.

The online shop Redbubble promotes this item as a wall tapestry but I have to admit I use it as a sheer window drape as well. The photo is of a Somerville sunset. Your choice how to drape or hang this fluid digital print. Available hereย ย https://rdbl.co/2KarrDm

As you walk through that field in Woburn it feels almost like autumn because there are so few leaves or even buds on the branches.

While I wish this far into April that the trees had more leaves on their branches, they do present a beautiful silhouette as the sun sets against a blue and white sky.

I am indeed perplexed by this world today – the ugliness, the violence, the pettiness, and the thoughtlessness – but I do find serenity in the woods.

three birds amidst the berries
Even as I compose this post I hear birds around me in the cityscape and so …

… I think I shall rise to go outside with my camera and see what birds in city branches I might capture on this beautiful day.

These birds, berries and branches were photographed this past weekend in parks located in Boston, Newton and Saugus.

I know Phil saw his shadow and winter is not over, but I do begin to feel that Spring might indeed be in the air. Through this window I like to rest my eyes on the bare branches of the oak tree, knowing that soon enough they will leaf out, but meanwhile while the branches are bare, sunlight can flood the kitchen so that my tiny little winter garden of sprouts can grow. A small pleasure with big impact. ๐
