So, earlier today, I wandered into the kitchen to make some lunch.  A cloudy day and chilly to start so I decided on a cup of tea.  As I walked toward the stove past the little table where I keep herbs, cut flowers and things like that, I glanced at a vase of old daffodils.

I could not help but think, “I’ve got to throw these things away before the petals fall all over the floor!”  Then I’d have to vacuum … though I already needed to vacuum.  I spritzed a few stems with water.  Maybe a little moisture would help.  Instead, a petal drifted free of its stem and just managed to land on the table.

I turned away with a curmudgeonly sigh.  I put the kettle on to boil.  While waiting for it to whistle, I felt a bit of warmth on the back of my neck.  Perhaps the sun was finally peeking through a cloud.  I turned to look over my shoulder, and this is what I saw that made me smile.

An Interior Light in the Tulip

I don’t think of myself as an “abstract” person but of late I have felt like exploring that side of myself, especially today when I know there are other things I should be doing. 😉  I will do those things but …

Herbs in Silhouette on the Kitchen Table

Water on the Green

Window Frames in Shadow on the Wall

Cactus All Aglow

Mystic River Lights Through Reeds

Behind the Fence Brightly

Ideas are starting to come to mind for how I might use these and other images.  But … after a while … procrastination is procrastination no matter what adjective I put in front of the word.  And so, for now, I must put away the camera and avert my eyes from photography files.  At least until tomorrow.  😉

Despite my pronouncement that I might be done with tulips, a dear friend surprised me with some.  I took that as a sign that this photographic journey is to continue for a while longer. 😉

Four days ago, when I entered the flower shop, one goal was to find white tulips to photograph.  I finally selected a bouquet that looked mostly white with just a few petals here and there laced with pink.  I figured that was okay.

But as the tulips  sat in the kitchen window bathed in sunlight, more and more pink appeared across all of the flowery surfaces.

At first I was a bit chagrined.  You see, my last experience with pink tulips had been fun but I really had been trying to photograph something different.  Luckily, one of my mottoes in this life is “go with the flow.”  😉

Today, I noticed that the tulips had more fully opened revealing once more that interior beauty.

I really don’t have a flower budget, so I am not sure how many more bouquets of non-pink tulips I will try to buy.  But I’ll ponder that challenge later.  Right now, I’ll just enjoy the tulips that are present.
