The snows still melt at the Brooks Estate in Medford, MA but here and there you can glimpse the earth beneath and the streams starting to flow. These photos were taken while the sun was dropping low in the sky. I was so caught up in the colors and standing still for so long that I nearly forgot that my feet were damp and already cold. Later at home, with feet tucked in warm socks, I downloaded the images and simply heightened the contrast a bit.

Yes, indeed, it is that time of year once more. Somerville Open Studios 2015 is taking place May 2 + May 3, with sneak previews on May 1. I am honored to have this piece appearing in the SOS Volunteer Show held at the Bloc 11 restaurant in Union Square April 8 – May 20. If you click on the image, you’ll see that it is a photograph of the oak tree that towers over my house. Really. The view is through the kitchen window after the window’s covering of ice had melted. I’ve yet to name the image though one friend suggested “attempted evolution,” as if something were trying to become a tree. I’ve got until April 1 to settle upon a name. I’m open to more suggestions. Meanwhile, more information about Open Studios events and activities later in the spring. 😉

there is little sun today …

… as we wait for the next two storms. But yesterday there was a beautiful light. I tried photographing that same icicle that during a previous sunset had seemed filled with gold dust. But nothing is ever quite the same. Still beautiful though. 😉

Trees reflected in the waters during that recent trip to Ireland. That’s one good thing about being a bit snowbound. Gives you lots of time to sit and sort through photos.
Of course that could be me trying to find the bright side as we brace for the next set of winter storms.
