A curious little bird by the Charles River. When I passed it the first time, and even moved in close, it did not fly away. And when I returned along the same path, there it remained ready for its next close up.

The Arts at the Armory Café is located on the first floor of the Armory in Somerville. In addition to tasty food, the café offers visitors art upon its walls. I’m proud to be a participating artist for its Winter Art Show along with Aline Lotter, Casey Stanberry, Eleanor Elkin, Jennifer Weigel, Jessica Dyer, Lauren Jones, Lea Ruscio, Miranda Vitello, Ponnapa Prakkamakul, and Tracie Storie.The exhibit is on display January 6-31 in the Cafe. I asked a certain physicist to help me understand what happened in the sky near sunset in Copley Square. We discussed the interplay of light and shadow. How the sun below the horizon was illuminating the clouds from below. How the sharp line in the sky might result from shadows cast by something on the horizon. Then of course there were the clouds at different altitudes. Shorter wavelength blue light scattered out. Longer wavelength red light left behind. In the end all we could agree upon was that it was beautiful.
