… I didn’t notice anything. I didn’t even take a peek at the plant. I took it for granted what must be in the pot.

It wasn’t until I descended the stairs with eyes wider open.  That was when I noticed the bloom.

It had not been there yesterday of that I am sure because I remember glancing at the plant and wondering how much longer it would survive.  I had looked but I hadn’t paid attention.  I hadn’t even noticed the bud.

It was an inspiring sight to start off the day.

It is a sad title but it has been a beautiful journey.  An unexpected gift from a friend of a bouquet of tulips with encouragement to photograph its form. And so I have over the past couple of weeks.  But these may be the final images, I think, pink petals resting in a gold goblet catching the last of winter’s light.

the sun was shining and so there was a wonderful reflection of the tulips in a nearby framed print of blueberries in a field.  A wonderful layering took place.

Early morning light falling upon a bundle of plastic flowers, left behind by friends at least a year ago.  They are tucked out of the way in the hallway, ignored, until the light makes them shine.

Some of the bulbs still thrive in the hallway but one had faded away and so I took its drying blossoms and placed them in a bowl and tucked them in the fridge. This morning, as with the rose, I photographed the results.  This morning’s light was less intense then on the day I shot the rose but it was bright enough.
