After work today I revisited that parking lot I mentioned in an earlier post.  I am still quite amazed at what’s to be found in the narrow bands of greenspace of an urban office park.

And finally can you see the two hawks on the poles?  Since I didn’t have the equipment to shoot them clearly at a distance, I just enjoyed standing and watching them fly around for a while. 😉

Tulips are not my favorite flowers nor do I usually select pink-budded anything.  Yet over the weekend on a whim I picked up a bouquet of pink tulips, narrow heads still tightly closed, to fill an empty vase in the kitchen.  For days, as the flowers slowly opened, I kept focusing on the exterior, admiring the loving pink tones of the petals, thinking I might take a few shots at some point.  Then this morning I caught a glimpse of each flowers interior.  Of course, there went my morning. 😉

… it was to a lovely, if chilly, new spot for us, the Cutler Park Reservation.   We managed to do a loop around Kendrick Pond before the cold was just too much.  I’m looking forward to revisiting, especially in warmer weather.

I often write about light dancing on water.  On Sunday, I was drawn to the light bouncing around a plate of oranges and tomatoes.  The plate was assembled as a midday snack to fuel up for a hike.  But then just as we were about to grab our forks, the sun shone through the window in that special way.

And so we had to pause for just a bit. 😉

The shot glass has been sitting in the same spot on the window sill for about four years just gathering dust and loose coins I toss its way.

Yes, light has shone through its crystal base before but I guess my eyes are especially sensitive to light displays at present.  😉

What drew my eyes this time were the rainbow shards projected across the window sill.  Perfect spears and overlapping rods of light.  Back at the computer, it became much fun to subtly play with contrasts.

This image I shifted the colors just a bit, bringing out the blues.

As this day ends, I am tempted to place a bunch of glass jars of different shapes and sizes and colors along the window.  What rainbow-hued shapes will appear as the sun strikes next?  I must say, this is turning into a very fun winter! 😉
