… I didn’t notice anything. I didn’t even take a peek at the plant. I took it for granted what must be in the pot.

It wasn’t until I descended the stairs with eyes wider open. That was when I noticed the bloom.

It had not been there yesterday of that I am sure because I remember glancing at the plant and wondering how much longer it would survive. I had looked but I hadn’t paid attention. I hadn’t even noticed the bud.

It was an inspiring sight to start off the day.

… to have the opportunity to photograph such beauty in so many forms.

I’ve noticed some activity at my local flower shop. Spring really is coming, isn’t it? Be well. 😉

And in the bucket where my mini crop of potatoes once grew, a wonderfully gnarly growth of nasturtium. No blooms quite yet, but I’m waiting.

It is an everlasting gift given to me by my parents. An appreciation for gardening. I’m grateful that so far no matter where I have lived I have been able to play with seeds and soil. Along the way, I have always learned something. One of those recent learnings was the genesis of this new photo essay, Practicing Patience, now appearing on Creativity Portal. I hope you enjoy.

No poetic words stirred by the nasturtium so far, but it is a delight to photograph its many parts. If you write a poem, please share. 😉

Why have a potted nasturtium in the kitchen? Well, they are easy to take care and when it’s late and you’re hungry and you’re trying to eat healthy, simply pull a few leaves from the plant. Layer the leaves on a saucer. Slice a couple of tomatoes. Pile the slices on the leaves. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Glass of white wine or water on the side. Done. Prep time? About a minute and thirty seconds or so. 😉
