Well, at least a very ripe avocado was the first ingredient and then I scavenged about the kitchen. The end result was unruly and messy but quite tasty.

I don’t know that it will help me focus any better this discombobulated day, but making myself get up from the computer, assemble the ingredients, and take a few shots before digging in … I did feel better afterward and it sure did taste good. Have a good Wednesday. 😉

The Menu
First Course – Smoked Salmon Salad
A bed of fresh spinach greens topped with sliced cherry tomatoes and radishes, chopped red onions and smoked salmon. Liberally season with black pepper and a bit of garlic powder and salt. Drizzle with olive oil.
Second Course – Sauteed Vegetable Medley
Pour olive oil into frying pan. Turn heat down low. Coarsely chop red onions, oyster mushrooms, garlic clove. Toss into frying pan with a bunch of broccoli florets. Add a little chicken broth. Consider adding bacon (but I decided I’ve been eating too much bacon lately). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with some toasted bread.
End the night with an orange. Consider chocolate … 😉

lime and apple mint
… but I did not dream of growing up to become a chef, like Jackie Hill did. Of course, I had a toy camera and I never dreamed of growing up to become a photographer. You never know what a day — or a life — will hold, do you? Those random thoughts were inspired by this beautiful article about a woman following her dreams.

Actually, just a simple appetizer of sliced yellow peppers and tomatoes, caught in that magic late afternoon light.

Ricky’s Flower Market is a lovely shop in the heart of Union Square in Somerville, Massachusetts. When his door opens April-ish, then you know spring has arrived even if there’s still snow on the ground. When I need a visual respite, I like to wander through his indoor/outdoor space that’s filled with annuals, perennials, herbs, clay pots and everything and anything else needed for gardening. When the sun finally popped out this morning, I decided to make my way over there, and I am glad I did.
