Downpours have been threatening for days in the Boston area, yet little rain has fallen so far. So yesterday I was able to sit by the water fountain in Copley Square as I ate my lunch. A warm gusty wind blew through the square sending a shower of leaves into the water. It was fun to hold tight to my sandwich with one hand while trying to snap photos of leaves sailing by. Quite unexpectedly,a lady decided to strip and bathe in the fountain at the same time. I decided to focus on the leaves. 😉

When I walked the river’s edge last Saturday, I kept peering deep into the water looking for fish and turtles. But the sun was so hot and there were so many canoeists in the water. It became quite clear that beneath those churned up waters that I would be spying no fish or turtles. So I paid attention to the surface.

Stormy Weather by Cynthia Staples
I’ve always enjoyed putting brush to paper, but I’ve never been especially disciplined about learning the right ways to do so. But the older I grow the more I realize it is more important to just put the brush to the paper and stop worrying about the right way. Van Gogh I will never be, but I don’t need to be Van Gogh to have fun with paint or to produce an image that might make someone’s day a bit brighter. Random thoughts on a quiet Sunday. 😉

… it was an impulse buy. I had traveled to my local grocery store with a specific list of items to purchase. Prickly pears were not on that list. And yet as I passed by that basket of fruit …
… I guess the overhead lights struck the skin in such a way that I was reminded of iridescent glass. How could I resist such a display?
And yes, if I look close enough, I still see stars in a night sky. Perhaps an aurora. 😉

I only had to hop one fence, calm down one startled rabbit, and wade hip-deep through one muddy grove to reach the graveled path leading up to the power station. I had visited this area before and was curious what this season held for viewing. For the most part, I kept my camera aimed high hoping to catch sight of the hawk I’d seen before but then at some point I realized I should watch my footing on the icy rocks. I glanced down and this is what I saw.
In one small area ice sheets stretched. In some places water bubbled beneath the surface. Rocks and leaves were enveloped by sheer winter wraps. Later at home I played around a bit with the lighting. Revealed were bright stars in a dark sky and stained glass perfect for an outdoor cathedral.
One day later my hands are still cold from that impromptu icy shoot. But I think the numbness was worth it.
