the backside

around the bend

Part of the genesis of the story referenced in the previous post, about The Long Walk, was an accidental 26 mile walk I took a few months ago.  Now, people keep asking me, “How do you accidentally walk a marathon?”  Well, let me tell you, it is possible, if you keep wondering what’s around the bend.

What do forks have to do with a long walk? Well, just click the picture or on this link to find out.    Find a tale inspired by my interactions with a five-year old who has grown adept at asking “can you make up a story about [fill in the blank],” and my interactions with a 50-plus year old  who has the spirit of a five-year old who tells me quite often what he will do with a fork in the road.

With such muses in my life, how could I not write this tale?  Please enjoy and let me know what you think.

Call and Response with the Sun*

Sun, will you shine in my sky?
Lord, yes indeed, I will try.

Sun, will you shine, brightening my sky?
Lord, yes indeed, I will try.

Sun, will you shine in my sky?
Lord, yes indeed, I will try.

Sun, my sweet sun, will your light fill this world?
Yes, Lord! Yes, indeed, I will try.

hibiscus petals in the sun

A few blossoms found by the seashore this weekend.  They suddenly glowed in a shaft of afternoon light.

One of those unexpected sights that made many a person pause, and one older gentleman even exclaimed, “What a glorious day it has turned out to be.”

a pear-ilous perspective

I know.  That was horrible.  But I just couldn’t help myself with that title. I’ll try to be more disciplined with my words next time.  Meanwhile, I hope you have had a good day. 😉

currants or gooseberries?

A friend picked these up at a local farmers market.  I thought she described them as currants but someone else called them gooseberries.

While their tart taste is not to my liking, I do appreciate the variation in shades of color.

I especially like the intricacy of the husks.

I probably won’t purchase anymore but this little batch did make for a great procrastination photo shoot. 😉

I couldn’t think of a title so I’ll just let the leaf speak for itself.
