An impulse buy at the grocery store for sure. A package of eighteen little eggs with so many different patterns on their shells.

A half dozen can fit into my hand at once. As for preparation …

… something simple. Perhaps boil them, shell them and place on a bed of mixed lettuce greens. Add a few sliced cherry tomatoes. Maybe drizzle the ensemble with a salad dressing made from the aioli Steve made last night. And yes, that aioli is infused with those mustard greens. Some toasted bread rubbed with garlic, and I think that’ll do it. 😉

the ice will have melted.

The panes of glass will be mostly clear.

The icy forest will be gone.

And likely I’ll be a bit warmer, but what a way to start the day. 😉

A friend passed this leaf and its mate on the sidewalk. Struck by their beauty, she paused, picked them up and asked herself, “What can I do with these? I know! I’ll give them to Cynthia to photograph.” How humbling is that? 😉

I do wonder if people think I’m crazy as I walk through downtown Boston and other city centers picking up leaves and sticking them in any available pocket.

I keep thinking I should plan a specific leaf-picking adventure with a proper bucket or plastic bag as container. But somehow it is more fun to be walking along to work or to shop and to be open to the possibility of finding … something … along the way.

Of course it is easy to behave that way when the sun is shining and autumn leaves glow like jewels falling from the sky.

I’ll be curious what’s to be found on the ground this day. Hope your day goes well wherever you are in the world. 😉

… found, one Saturday morning, on the church steps. I wrote about him once.

Over time, and with the aid of little hands and big windy storms, the little fellow’s body has deteriorated quite a bit, but the wings are still intact …

… and quite beautiful.

Here are a few of the things inspiring me of late:

Sunlight shining through Japanese Maple leaves.

Japanese Noh robes as described in the book, Patterns and Poetry.

And always, always, always, trees – their green leaves, bare branches and beautiful barks.
