Yesterday I went for a walk by the river, and for the most part I kept stumbling upon beautiful abstraction.

I was photographing shells on black paper when I decided to see what would happen if I tore apart a nearby blossom and photographed the petals on the paper instead.

A friend wants to use some seashell photos in her artwork. I’ll be curious what she creates. Meanwhile I’m having a grand time revisiting my shell collection. This shell reminds me of the sky at sunset. What do you think? 😉

A friend just shared the extended trailer for the movie Cloud Atlas, based on the novel by David Mitchell. After only thirty seconds of viewing, I knew the trailer was all the excuse I needed to share some cloud photos. Mostly taken in the Greater Boston area. Enjoy!

As for that trailer, if you’d like to view for yourself, just click here. A bit long but darned inspiring. So, while my creative procrastination most recently was photographing a plum, I think today it will most certainly be an afternoon walk with my camera pointed at the sky. Hmmm, that’s probably why my family worries about me when I’m crossing the road. 😉

One morning I purchased a single plum. It was an impulse buy. I haven’t eaten plums in years but I thought I might use the fruit as inspiration. In the end, it was my antidote for mounting procrastination. You see, I had a project due soon. Amazing how strong the urge to take a long walk when you need to stay seated and finish a writing assignment. I couldn’t go for a walk but …

… I decided I could rise from my chair on occasion and take a photo of the plum. I did so throughout the afternoon. No fine art produced but the movement was a release of sorts.

When I finished the writing assignment, I ate the plum, a final dose of a sweet treat that helped me stay focused just enough. I think I might buy an apple today!
