Not sure this nasturtium leaf is emerald, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2013, but I think it is a lovely shade of green just the same. And it is very tasty, in fact peppery, sprinkled on top of salads. 😉

This winter, I’ve been lucky enough to continue photographing the interior and exterior artwork of Trinity Church in Copley Square, Boston.

Trinity is considered one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the United States. It sits in the center of the City of Boston in an area known as the Back Bay. If you are ever in the Boston area, I highly recommend a visit to view in person this beautiful structure. Inside you will find represented the great stained glass artists including John La Farge, Edward Burne-Jones and Margaret Redmond. Above is a scene from one of her stained glass windows, depicting King Solomon. I’m pleased to share that this image is available as a postcard in The Shop at Trinity Church, located in the church’s basement. Future postcards will include this scene from the window Jesus Blessing Little Children by Henry Holiday of London

and this mural by John La Farge depicting the story of Christ and the woman at the well.

The church is located at 206 Clarendon Street, Boston, Massachusetts. The Shop is located in the basement (or undercroft). You can read more via this link. Direct line is 617.536.0944 extension 225 for The Shop.

That was the word that came to mind after I downloaded this image. A bit imperfect but somehow it felt wrong to delete it.

The name of the plant I do not know. Its cost was $2.48. I know that because the label is still on the side of the little plastic pot. I have never replanted it. I sometimes forget to water it and then when I do I sometimes drown it but it is a succulent and that seems to be okay.

I have tucked it in a very, very sunny corner. Perhaps for that reason it forgives my neglect and on occasion produces these magnificent pale blooms on pencil thin stalks that I snip and place in an old spice jar. I’ve been photographing them against a background of white vellum.

We’ll see what the rest of the winter holds, if new blooms will emerge. Meanwhile, I’ll try to show my appreciation by buying some soil later today so I can replant this (and several more) plants later in the week. 😉

A little wooden butterfly scotch taped to a piece of vellum that was taped to a sunny window. A bit of fun on a Tuesday morning. 😉

Thanks for the positive comments about the recent tulip pictures. I did not expect to photograph them again today … it is quite rainy with little natural light coming through the window. But then on a whim I picked up a flashlight and that experience has been rather fun.

Since this storm system will be around for a bit, we’ll see how this “flashlight series” progresses.

Traveling by foot to the Mystic River can be a bit harrowing from where I live. There’s nothing like crossing a major highway, at a legitimate pedestrian crossing, without a crosswalk signal. But when you reach the river, it is worth it.
